The removal/demolition of a bomb /air raid shelter and a slate patio |
These are pictures of a bungalow property in Priory Park, Blackheath SE3.
Priory park is an exclusive area of Blackheath and not suitable for just any building contractor.
Building work must be to a high standard and kept in character with the local area.
We started by removing soil and cutting back bushes to allow for a much bigger patio.
We then lowered the ground level by 300mm and laid hardcore and a concrete base.
Foundations were then poured ready for the retaining wall.
We then had to demolish a air raid / Bomb shelter which had a concrete roof of 400m thick and concrete walls of 300mm thick.
These were reinforced with reinforcing metal bars.
This was reduced to 350mm below ground level and then we in filled the void and laid soil ready to turf this area.
| These are the finished pictures once we had laid the black / blue slate patio flooring.

All retaining walls were carried out with hollow 8 blocks and sand and cement rendered with a flat finish.
All shingle footpaths and turfing was carried out on completion.
The black slate patio gives a great finish up against the white rendered walls

This garden project was designed by the client that works in interior and exterior design.
She added all of her own finishes.

Indian limestone random patio with garden wall and lighting |
We reduced the ground level by 300mm.
We then dug the foundations for the brick wall.
We then laid 100 mms of crushed concrete hardcore.
We then laid the electric cables under the concrete base ready for the lighting in the brick walls
Then applied 100mm - 150mm of concrete to the complete area including 200mm's for the wall foundations.
Once the concrete had hardened we then started to build the brick walls before laying the Indian limestone slabs.

We have now set out the pattern for the Indian sandstone.
The Indian sandstone comes in all different sizes and colours.
This is called a random patio.
We lay these stones on sand and cement. |
These are pictures of the finished article.
All of the garden wall lights have been installed; the patio has been pointed in and washed down
York stone and any other natural stone would be laid in the same way.
Another fine job completed on time |
